All colleges in the Top 10 Colleges ranking are private schools.
For the academic year 2024, the average acceptance rate of the schools is 5.18% where Harvard University has the tightest (lowest) rate of 3.00% and Johns Hopkins University has the highest rate of 7.00%. The average SAT score of the schools is 1,545 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology has the highest SAT score with 1,560.
Total 206,349 students including both undergraduate and graduate students are attending one of the schools. Johns Hopkins University is the largest with 32,049 students and California Institute of Technology is the smallest with 2,397 students. The average graduation rate is 95.91% and the average students to faculty ratio is 5.27 to 1.

For the undergraduate programs, the average tuition & fees of the best us top 10 colleges is $60,776 where University of Chicago has the most expensive costs at $64,260 and Harvard University has the lowest amount of tuition at $57,261.

Last year average tuition rates over US colleges is 4.40 % for in-state tuition and 4.25% for out-of-state tuition. How about last ten years? We analyze US colleges tuition rates for over the past 10 years (2003 - 2012).

Here are the analyzed results as tables and graph by tuition change, year on year tuition rate comparison, and 10 year cumulative tuition rates. The analysis is done through 3484 US colleges and universities.

One interesting thing is the 2008-2009 tuition - the first year for Obama. The tuition goes down only at that year. The tuition increase over 50 %  as of ten years ago.
